Its November 6th and I would be lying to you if I said I haven't started getting into the Christmas spirit. I may or may not have a Christmas tree, stockings and Christmas lights hanging in my room already. It's starting to get colder and Halloween is over, so why not get in Christmas mode a little earlier.
I know, I know, I'm jumping the gun a lot, but I feel like the older I get, the shorter Christmas lasts. I remember when I was younger it felt like Christmas lasted forever and now it feels like it lasts two days. Not to mention, stressing about trying to get the money to buy everyone you love the best Christmas presents.
Don't worry though, I did not and will not forget about Thanksgiving. Who can not think about all the yummy food you get to enjoy and the week long break from school we get. I just like to celebrate Thanksgiving with my Christmas tree lit up, that's all.
In all honesty, this is my favorite time of the year. Even though it is getting colder, the snow is beautiful, everyone is in a happier mood and I get to spend so much time with my family. The older I get the more I cherish the moments to have my family together because I realize how much it doesn't happen because everyone is so busy. Getting older sucks so much because the reality of the holidays kicks in, but your priorities switch to enjoy the other parts that you never realized were so important before and you cherish the moments you have with everyone so much more.
I'm totally the same way when it comes to the holiday season! Cherishing those moments with the people who mean a lot to you is so important and we can often forget the impact that we have on each other. So keep decorating and listening to Christmas music, I'm right there with you!
ReplyDeleteNow I am very against putting up Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving, I see the Christmas season starting with Black Friday. This used to mean that Friday at 5 AM the Christmas season would be in full swing at the Whitmore house. Now the season starts after Thanksgiving Dessert. I do agree that growing up the Holiday seasons feel shorter, cherishing those moments of putting up the Christmas tree is a tradition in my house. Rather than most individuals I have encountered that decorate, they do not care about Thanksgiving, rather I can better understand why you prefer to celebrate all of November and December. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI swear it seems that Christmas really starts earlier every single year. I remember when I was young and I couldn't wait for Thanksgiving to be over because then all of the Christmas stuff would come out. Although, now it seems that Christmas stuff is out before Halloween is even over. Yet, seeing as it is my favorite holiday I am definitely not complaining.
ReplyDeleteGrowing up, once November hit I was all about Christmas. Every since I started college, I usually don't get in the Christmas mood until I go home for Thanksgiving. My mom pukes Christmas and we put up our decorations the day after Thanksgiving Day.
