The last chapter we had to read was Chapter 5. This chapter talks about the research and information needed for successful social media.
You want to research what to post so you can get the best reaction. If you post information that isn't true, then you run into your followers finding you untrustworthy and you will start to lose them. It is important to be informed and honest because social media changes so fast you don't want to lose your credibility.
This chapter also talks about all of the metrics included in social media; basic, advanced, channel and behavioral. Then it goes into the two different rates; conversation and amplification. You can read about these in this book "Social Media for Strategic Communication." The book goes into detail on each one and how it applies to social media.
I never realized how much actually goes into the research side of social media, but it makes complete sense after reading this chapter. If you are working for a business, you need to be extra careful when doing research and posting information because you don't want to come across as a liar. If you are labeled a liar it could hurt the reputation of you and the business and you could potentially lose your job and it could make it harder to find a job in the future. This really opened my eyes to being more careful with information I share on my own social media.
